"Annoyed"

Life took a bit of a twist today, as it's want to do.

The eye doctor says I need cataract surgery, that it can't wait until september, and that I can't swim or run for a month afterwards.  To top that off, he wants to do both eyes separately, six weeks apart!

I'm a little annoyed!

Damn!  I'm not sure what to do?

I may just ignore him!  Doctors don't know everything!

And while my run today was a lame session, I was very pleasantly surprised by my swim.  I made a little change and it was very cool.  I swam 5 seconds/100 metres faster than usual, with less effort.  I was pretty pumped.

That was before the stupid eye doctor!!

swim 1300 metres, run 8 kms

...I had to read this one carefully but I think I got it....

  1. I'm kinda familiar with cataracts, but I had to look up cataract surgery to know what it's all about. Apparently, the doctor can put in a lens that has optimal power so that people actually have better vision after the surgery (and generally have to get a new prescription). That's kinda neat!

Why does it have to happen now? Why can't it wait until September? Poor eyesight caused by cataracts happens slowly over time - is it really gonna get so bad before September? And from what I've read, there doesn't seem to be anything "urgent" about it, but rather just being about how much it bothers you.... hmm.

Or, could you ask the doc if you can get it done ASAP and more closely together (instead of 6 weeks apart), and then only have about a month you have to take off?

  2. Some things aren't worth the risk, and my eyes are one, but you need to decide that for yourself. I trust you to do what's best for you, no matter how difficult that might be...
